Exercise to Quit Smoking - Harnessing brain power through hypnosis

There are lots of exercises for quitting smoking which range from various forms of calisthenics to cardiovascular workouts. The brain is another part of the body which if one exercises in the correct form, one can reap powerful benefits beyond one’s imagination. In fact, the ancient Indian art of Yoga, recognized by many international athletes and celebrities as a highly effective medium form of exercise, makes uses of an equal amount of brain power as it utilizes physical energy. Evidently, one can understand how beneficial this will be for a smoker who needs and wants to quit smoking.

Here is one practical exercise to quit smoking effectively or at least build an increasing desire to. However, plainly reading the process can do little do compared to listening to this exercise while practicing it. Therefore, it is recommended to record this in slow, peaceful and guiding words and then listen to that recording several times. The exercise which you will read is a traditional form of self hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Self Hypnosis Exercise to help smoking cessation

The first and foremost rule of meditation and concentration is to sit and and make oneself as comfortable as possible. So sit down comfortably and close your eyes. Relax.

Say the following line. (One can as a matter of fact record permutations of this type of line to boost the overall effect)

“Now I am in a future moment when I no longer smoke. I can see my environment, I can hear the sounds, smell the smells and feel all my emotions. I have no cravings for cigarettes. This seems real, this is real. I can feel how happy and peaceful I am, how happy my family is and what a positive world it has suddenly become.”

One should ideally record three to four versions of this line in different tones and words or even voices so that one does not get bored of the same sound. Then repeat the following kind of lines and re-record in different versions and sequences:

“Now, I can feel the freedom I have without tobacco, how great I feel when I am no longer owned by cigarettes. My thoughts are my own. I am free to choose what I want to do and where I want to go, without the thought of smoking cigarettes coming into my thoughts. I want to stay here in this moment of no smoking for a long time and when I go back I will let my mind take these future moments of no tobacco cravings back with me.”

Take about fifteen to twenty imaginative minutes to say these words in your mind after which, press your index finger to the thumb. Imagine that you are guiding your mind against smoking cigarettes and that it your index finger and thumb which is leading the way. Concentrate on your thought, these lines and keep pressing your thumb and index fingers.

The reason to press the thumb to the index finger repeatedly while thinking of a pain free and happy world without cigarettes in a way conditions and primes your mind to think about this sort of a world each time you press your fingers. Only this time as it the subconscious mind which you are utilizing, the effects tend to stay for a little longer than usual and over a period of time, the effect is pretty powerful.

As you have made an anchor (thumb and index finger) to revive you out of smoking, it will help to bring about smoking cessation. Keep practicing this quit smoking exercise till the stage when as you press the two fingers, the exercise works instantly.
